Acting and directing simultaneously in one project is not new for Coco Martin. But this time, he will also be incorporating his own concept in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Labyu with an Accent".
In the film's story conference held on Wednesday, September 7, the veteran actor shared how he tried pitching his story to Star Cinema, in the hopes that the production outfit picks it up.
“Like itong sa Star Cinema, ako talaga naglakas loob," he admitted. May kwento ako.'

Coco will be starring with Jodi Sta. Maria in the upcoming romance flick where they will play the roles of Gabo and Trisha respectively.
As described by the stars, the story revolves around the journey of their characters who came from entirely different backgrounds. Jodi's character Trisha is someone who had been living in the United States for 20 years, while Coco's character Gabo is someone who grew up in the Philippines juggling different jobs to make ends meet.
Coming from their successful teleseryes "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano" and "The Broken Marriage Vow", Coco said they really exerted effort to make sure their roles in the movie will be different from the ones they have portrayed in the past.
While the actor-director did not disclose other details, he assured that their whole team will be delivering a topnotch project that the viewers will love.
"Labyu with an Accent” marks Coco's return to the highly anticipated film festival. It is one of Star Cinema’s entries this MMFF 2022 along with Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi’s “Partners in Crime”.
