Cathy Garcia-Molina recalls how first meeting with Vice Ganda went

For the first time ever, two of the blockbuster household names, Cathy Garcia-Molina and Vice Ganda, are teaming up to bring laughter this coming Christmas season with "Partners in Crime", which also stars internet sensation-turned-actress Ivana Alawi.

As early as August, Direk Cathy and Vice already met through a simple get-together, which the comedian initiated for them to get off on the right foot.

“Request ni Vice to meet me and my staff para mag-discuss ng intentions,” she shared in an interview with Cinema News. “I brought my staff — my family na makakasama niya na lagi ko mga kasama. Ganoon din si Vice, magiging parte ng family. Kumbaga, getting to know each other."

"I like the idea, kasi pangit na sa first day lang [ng shooting saka kami] magkikita-kita, ‘di ba?” she added.

Direk Cathy described the whole meeting as "fun", as she gushed about her excitement at working with the Box-Office Superstar for the first time.

“It was fun. Movie-filled talks about love and friendship," she said about their meeting. "Sinimulan namin na dapat kaming magkakaibigan para mag-translate sa film. Excited ako [dahil] first time lahat."

"Nandoon ang excitement, at the same time — ‘di naman takot — alinlangan siguro, kasi ‘di ko alam kung paano magwo-work," she admitted. "Vice has been open to me na, ‘Direk, we are one team. Magtulungan tayo to give the audience the best movie.’”

What makes the project even more exciting is how Direk Cathy's expertise in big screen romance will be joining forces with Vice's signature comedy.

“Exciting [kasi] mas kilala ako sa love story; si Vice, comedy. So paano kami gagawa ng may love story and at the same time makakapagpatawa at makakapag-entertain? Kasi, at the end of the day, sa MMFF, dream natin makapagpasaya, especially Christmas time,” she said.

"Partners in Crime" marks Vice's return to the highly anticipated film festival after his 2019 entry, "The Mall, The Merrier" alongside Anne Curtis.

Now in its 48th year, "MMFF" will promote the message "Balik Saya" while highlighting the "Filipino cinematic experience" of our kababayans during the Christmas season.

More details will be released soon so stay tuned to Star Cinema's social media accounts for more updates!
