Just like her character in the hit primetime series "Mars Ravelo's Darna", Janella Salvador knows how to fight for what she thinks is right.
In an interview with broadcast journalist Bernadette Sembrano in a video uploaded on September 3, the actress shared how she can relate with Regina Vanguardia, the alter ego of Valentina, Darna's equally iconic archnemesis.
“I actually portray two characters: Si Valentina, she’s the monster. The alter ego is Regina, she’s the human form," Janella began. "Si Valentina, she’s a monster, she’s fierce, she’s scary. Si Regina, she’s a lawyer and vlogger. She’s very intelligent and her heart is in the right place. She fights for justice."
In real life, the "Bloody Crayons” actress said she's very much the same as Regina as long as knows she's not stepping on anyone.
“Kasi si Regina, kapag meron siyang ipinaglalaban, as long as alam niyang nasa tama siya, ilalaban niya talaga. Ganoon ako as a person as long as wala akong natatapakan, Kasi I like learning, I like challenging myself,” she explained.
When asked about the most recent battle she fought for, Janella didn't hesitate to admit: “Being a single mom.”
“Being a single mom, talagang nilalaban ko ‘yun," she answered. "At the end of the day, alam kong kaya ko naman siya. As much as I love the people around me who are always there to help me, I always want to know na kaya kong gawin. I don't want it to sound bad kasi, pero I can rely on myself na hindi ko kailangang humingi ng tulong sa iba," she stressed.
Janella recently graced the digital cover of Metro magazine, where she channeled her villainess character Valentina.
You can catch her on "Mars Ravelo's Darna" every weeknight on TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, CineMo, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and TFC.
