Markus Paterson denies viral comment was about Janella Salvador: ‘It was open to misinterpretation’

Markus Paterson clarified that actress Janella Salvador was not the subject of his viral remark on never dating a celebrity as aired on the video podcast “Boys After Dark” by Rise Artists Studio.

In a report by ABS-CBN News published on Friday, September 9, the “Teen Clash” star set the record straight that he and Janella have broken up for “almost a year” now and that his controversial advice on the podcast has nothing to do with her.

“Just to clear up the facts, me and Janella have been broken up for almost a year,” Markus posted on his Instagram Story.

“She’s happy in life, and I’m happy in life and our only priority is Jude,” he said in reference to his and Janella’s one-year-old son Jude.

“What I said in the podcast wasn’t actually about her but I understand that it was open to misinterpretation because of the way I phrased it & since we never actually announced our break up,” he continued.

Markus issued this official statement nearly a week after the podcast premiered on Rise Artists Studio’s official YouTube channel.

The snippet that made rounds online featured Markus saying, “Kung may lessons ako sa mga relationships ko, never to date someone in the industry, bro. Huwag niyo i-cut iyan, seryoso ako diyan.

“Sa lahat ng mga manonood na batang artista or gusto mag-artista, huwag kayong mag-date ng ibang babaeng artista,” he said in the podcast’s debut episode which premiered on September 3.

Janella has not commented either on the viral clip or the confirmation of their breakup.
