5 personalities who became instant movie stars

It is not new for personalities who have thrived in a different industry to eventually pursue show business. There are singers, comedians, and even visual artists who are now some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. And sometimes, it is during these crossovers that we discover their impressive talents that proved to be valuable on the big screen.

Here, we've listed down five of the celebrities who wowed (or soon-to-wow) us with their acting chops in film on top of making it big in their respective industries:

1. Lea Salonga

Broadway Royalty Lea Salonga is mostly known for lending her beautiful voice in musical theaters and animated films but she also was a revelation on the big screen when she starred in "Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal" right after her Miss Saigon stint. Her successful team-up with Aga Muhlach in the movie also paved the way for them to star in the critically-acclaimed film, "Sana Maulit Muli", that earned her a FAMAS nomination for Best Actress!

2. Angeline Quinto

Angeline Quinto's crossover to the acting industry from being a Power Diva was truly one of the best things that ever happened in showbiz. Who can ever forget about her portrayal as Princess Antoinette Mae Bayag in "Four Sisters and a Wedding"?

3. Pia Wurtzbach

Pia Wurtzbach has already had previous acting stints prior to winning the Miss Universe crown in 2015. So it's no surprise when she held her own alongside phenomenal stars Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla in the 2017 comedy film "The Revenger Squad". Her big screen stint was followed by another project in 2018, the romance-drama "My Perfect You", which further put the spotlight onher acting prowess!

4. Maxine Medina

Like Pia, Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina also showed she's got the charisma in film when she starred in the 2018 comedy "Kusina Kings" with Zanjoe Marudo, Empoy Marquez, and more. True enough, she's one to charm on the big screen as she nailed playing Baby Girl in the hilarious comedy!

5. Ivana Alawi

From vlogger to TV actress and, soon, a movie star, Ivana Alawi is set to bring her allure and talent to the silver screen in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Partners in Crime" alongside Vice Ganda.
