When there’s bad blood between ex-partners, that often means that their breakup was a messy one: full of tears, possibly a heated exchange, and an outburst of emotion and frustration in an attempt to rip the band-aid off.
In an ideal world, we wouldn’t have to deal with such bitter endings, but it’s only natural that the people closest to us would also have the ability to hurt us the most. Whatever the reason may be for lovers to call it quits, it’s never an easy task to end something that once meant everything.
Join us as we revisit some of the most dramatic splits that happened on the big screen below:
“One More Chance” (2007)
Everybody thought that college sweethearts Basha (Bea Alonzo) and Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) are a “forever” deal. That was their initial plan anyway, until Basha’s pent-up frustrations about Popoy’s controlling behavior led her to think: “I want to stop wondering ‘what if?’ I want to know ‘what is’.”
“You Changed My Life” (2009)
Even though Laida (Sarah Geronimo) is head over heels for Miggy (John Lloyd Cruz), she simply would not stand for having an absentee boyfriend. Feeling that Miggy always prioritizes his career over their relationship, Laida finally breaks into tears in front of him and puts an end to what is causing her pain.
“Starting Over Again” (2014)
Sometimes, the most hurtful words are those that are left unsaid. That is true in the case of Marco (Piolo Pascual) whose girlfriend of three years Ginny (Toni Gonzaga) chose to leave him without a single explanation. Yes, even before the term “ghosting” was a thing, Ginny crushed Marco’s heart by leaving him with more questions than answers.
“The Breakup Playlist” (2015)
During an intense fight on their way to a gig, Trixie (Sarah Geronimo) suddenly decides to quit her role as frontman in a band led by her boyfriend Gino (Piolo Pascual). What she didn’t expect was for Gino to lash out and call it off with her completely: “Gusto mo umalis sa banda ko? Do me a favor, umalis ka na rin sa buhay ko!”
“The Hows Of Us” (2018)
George (Kathryn Bernardo) is burned out and her love tank has run dry after many years of supporting her boyfriend Primo’s (Daniel Padilla) dream of becoming a successful musician. And when she completely broke down (on her birthday, no less!) Primo chose to walk away, leaving her all the more heartbroken.
