Miss Earth Philippines 2022 candidate Michele Angela Okol is no longer pushing through with her journey after she got disqualified in the pageant for failing to meet the height requirement.
The beauty queen shared the news in a Facebook post yesterday, July 14, as she addressed all her friends and followers who have been rooting for her on making it to the Top 20.
According to Michele, she, her family, and her team had everything prepared for the pageant but failed to consider one important factor — her height.
"I was told that my height does not fit their pageant’s standards and that their organization would get bashed if they let someone below 5’4 push through the Top 20, hence, being grounds for disqualification," she revealed.
"Had we been measured earlier on and that this was the case, it would have been much easier to figure out what to do since we’ve already prepared all that was sent as requirements for both our online and face-to-face competition," she added.
Nevertheless, the Surigao del Norte-based beauty said that she remains grateful for the organization for the opportunity given to her.
Michele then ended her post with a message of gratitude to her supporters. "To all the Surigaonons and my supporters, this is not the end. After all, when one door closes, another one opens—Salamat karajaw sa ijo suporta," she wrote.
Apart from her, two other aspirants were also disqualified after falling short to the strict height requirement of the pageant, including Cess Cruz of Antipolo and Renee Coleen Sta. Teresa of Batangas.
Miss Philippines Earth will hold its first onsite coronation with a live audience this August 6 in Coron, Palawan.
