‘This isn’t a permanent goodbye’: Kris Aquino recovers from COVID-19, undergoes medical treatments in the US

Kris Aquino shared a new update regarding her health condition, together with an open letter addressed to her late brother, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

On Thursday, June 30, Kris took to Instagram to post a six-minute video of herself undergoing medical procedures and blood tests in the United States as part of her treatment plan for her autoimmune conditions. She also revealed her recovery from COVID-19.

“For now, 12 noon, June 29, 2022 where we are - this is what I felt you needed to know, straight from me para alam ng lahat ito ang totoo,” she captioned the clips.

She continued to thank those who are praying for her to get well and assured her followers of a subsequent health update “in God’s perfect timing.”

“This isn’t a permanent goodbye, ibalato n’yo na lang hanggang malagpasan namin itong matinding pagsubok. Thank you for all your prayers - I am forever #grateful. Promise, ‘pag may good news ako, after thanking God & telling my sisters & my trusted friends - you’ll see a post from me. In God’s perfect timing,” she said.

Halfway through the video, Kris began her letter to Noynoy by apologizing for being five days late in greeting him on his “first birthday in heaven.”

As Kris revealed in the letter, Josh and Bimby also contracted COVID-19 last June 20.

“It was heartbreaking to leave Kuya (Josh), I felt I was abandoning him in our time of need. That night, nurse Christina came to our hotel & she gave all of us PCR tests. The results came out midnight of the 21st — at that point we were all still negative. This is when you know who you can really count on, who will love you come what may,” she detailed.

Kris then asked for her brother’s help in their recovery: “Since this was already your death anniversary, somehow I felt reassured knowing that the three of us would get through this new ordeal especially because you would never allow us to have a death date so close to yours. I even joked with you – I said, Noy, you are super BIDA now, because you’re the only one with mom and dad – if I die Bunso will, of course, get the majority of their attention and, for sure, you won’t like that. Then I said, seriously, Noy, help me please – these two only have me. Please help me survive this, please?”

The “I Love You, Hater” actress also admitted that unlike Noynoy, she feels the need to be more vocal about her condition on social media.

“I want the privacy you had but unlike you who was never active on social media, I need to say goodbye properly because so many have reached out to me, prayed for me and my sons, and regardless of their political affiliation they have prayed for me to get better,” she included in the letter.

Kris further explained to her followers that she’s posting this “goodbye for now” because of the medicine she’s taking.

“Rituxan is an immunosuppressant. In straightforward language, it is chemotherapy but also used for some complicated autoimmune uses, like mine,” she clarified.

She ended the letter by telling her followers, “Please know that I remain thankful for all the concern and prayers you have sent our way but during very difficult times, I want to just keep the suffering to myself with only family and trusted friends kept informed.”

“I know me, impossible na hindi ako umamin ‘pag hirap na hirap na. So for now focus tayo on ourselves. We all have problems, we all have worries, and we all have hardships,” she added, “God bless us all. Until our reunion.”

It was last February when Kris first revealed her plans to seek medical treatments abroad. She had been diagnosed with erosive gastritis and gastric ulcer last March, in addition to her autoimmune disease.
