Raymond Gutierrez admitted that he's currently in a relationship with someone he met in Los Angeles earlier this year.
The TV host-editor made the revelation in a podcast episode of Wil Dasovich uploaded on June 1, where he opened up about his life after moving abroad. In the interview, Raymond recalled how he was single and alone when he decided to take a vacation in the US.
“Initially, I just want to be here for the summer to have fun, get away from it all. You know, we had one of the longest lockdowns in the world. So I had the opportunity to leave. I’m single and by myself in my condo so I’m like, let’s go to LA,” he recounted.
"When I landed here, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I am so thankful that I am here.’ I called my friends right away," he continued. "I am just very happy. I kind of just took my time, getting to be in the city again, seeing my friends… I do not have anyone but me, so it’s kind of challenging but at the same time I like it because I feel like there’s growth,” he added.
Wil then asked Raymond if he found a "love interest" after he had finally settled in Los Angeles.
“I think the first few months it was kind of like, ‘Let’s have fun, let’s see where this goes.’ But in January, I did meet someone,” he admitted.
"We’re taking it a bit more seriously and yeah, we are in a relationship,” he revealed.
When Raymond noticed that Wil was shocked upon admitting his relationship, he stressed: “There’s nothing to hide. What is there to hide? If the pandemic taught us one thing, it’s to live your life now.”
The host, however, has yet to share photos and details about his current partner who opts to keep his life "private."
“He’s not [in the public eye]. I respect that about him. I actually like that he doesn’t like the attention," he said. "He barely posts. I actually encourage him to post on his private social media. Yeah, so I like that he’s private."
Raymond came out as a gay man in the cover story of MEGA in August 2021.
While he's already open about his sexuality to his family and friends, Raymond said he chose to come out publicly to show that he's not "hiding" and let the world know that he's "happy" being part of the LGBTQ community.
