Following its last run in 2020, Trumpets’ longest-running musical “Joseph the Dreamer” is set to be restaged this year and Sam Concepcion will be playing the titular role!
During the musical’s digital press conference today, June 28, Sam expressed his thoughts on playing Joseph starring opposite veteran performer Gary Valenciano and Philippine theater royalty Audie Gemora.
“You thought the show couldn’t get better after the first run. It was so successful. It was such a great run. We had such a great cast and now, even more with the addition of our cast members and with Tito Gary (Valenciano) playing Jacob, it’s amazing. It’s times 100 now,” he said.
Sam also shared how motivated he is to perform his best next to Audie and Gary, who have both played the titular role in the show’s past runs and will be alternating as Jacob, Joseph’s father, in this year’s restaging.
“Just being able to play Joseph with them, the originators of this role. I have such huge shoes to fill. It’s huge for me and it’s pushing me to do even better on this run,” he shared.
“Tito Gary and Tito Audie are two different Jacobs and I just love that dynamic having the both of them as two different dads. It’s very fulfilling to be playing this role with them,” he added.
Also part of the cast are Kayla Rivera, Carlo Orosa, and Bituin Escalante who are set to reprise their respective roles Asenath, Pharaoh, and Rachel (Joseph’s mother) from the previous run. In some shows, Neo Rivera will play Joseph and Carla Guevarra-Laforteza will play Rachel.
Helmed by the production’s “Dream Team” consisting of Paolo Valenciano, Nelsito Gomez, Myke Salomon, MJ Arda, and Mio Infante, “Joseph The Dreamer” 2022 will run at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Bonifacio Global City from July 15 to 31.
Tickets are available at Ticketworld.
