Soon-to-be mother of four Iya Villania got candid about her fears of settling down with Drew Arellano when they were still dating.
In an interview on the podcast titled "Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel", the VJ-host opened up about her life before marrying her husband. That time, Iya was earning more than Drew, hence the fear of the changes she might face once they settle down.
“The reality of once I get married, things are gonna change, I might not have the same work opportunities. So you know, I was like ‘Am I ready for that?’ and ‘Sayang. Now that I’m finally in the industry, now that I finally have this job and that,'” she said.
“I was afraid of the change and I was so uncertain of what was to come, and what changes would it bring when we would get married,” she added.
Gladly, the two have been very open about each other's thoughts, with Drew constantly assuring Iya that she has nothing to worry about their future together and their financials.
“When I’d bring this up to Drew, he’d be like, ‘Love, we’ll be fine. Ano bang buhay ang gusto mo? Gusto mo ba ng mansyon?’ ‘Hindi.’ ‘O, ‘yun naman pala, eh. Gusto mo ba ng mga bags at mga sapatos?’ ‘Hindi rin naman’. ‘O, see?’ He just reminded me that the kind of lifestyle that you want is something that I know we can support and we can continue on with the comfort that we need, we can do it,” she shared.
It also helped that Drew have always known that Iya isn't the type of person to live a lavish lifestyle. “Kilala kasi niya ako na siguro he just needed to remind me that ‘Love, I don’t know what you’re worrying about because you’re not naman the type that wants this kind of magarbong buhay, so we’ll be fine.’ It took his faith for me to find mine,” she said.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, have three children: Primo, Leon and Alana. They are about to welcome their fourth child some time this year.
