Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe have only the best things to say about each other since working together on the Philippine adaptation of “Flower of Evil.”
The “Flower of Evil” co-stars gushed over the new things they learned about each other during the series’ official poster unveiling on Monday, May 23.
For Lovi, it was Piolo’s discipline and work ethic that stood out for her.
“I really appreciate how Piolo is so disciplined. The moment that he wakes up in the morning, he knows exactly what to do. He sets his mind into taking care of himself. When he gets on set, he’s always prepared,” she explained.
She also emphasized Piolo’s ability to convey strong emotions and empathize with his character in the show.
“The emotions that he gives me in every scene, talagang hindi ko na kailangan maghanap sa iba. All I have to do is to look into his eyes and talagang nadadala na ako,” she detailed.
“Si Piolo pala, mabilis siyang makaramdam ng emotions, which is very good kasi gift ‘yan sa isang actor,” she added. “It’s just nice to see that, kasi nga a person who actually senses certain emotions of other people just shows how much of an empath a person is.”
In the same vein, Piolo commended Lovi’s commitment to her craft and humility as a celebrity.
“One thing I really appreciate about her is her commitment to her work. It’s easy to be taken away, to get drowned in this business but Lovi is very humble. The way she approaches her work is talagang may passion siya. Hindi siya napapagod. It’s just so nice to see her devote her whole self into this project. Ang sarap nung ganun eh, kaya you kinda gravitate towards that,” he said.
Even though this is the first time they’ve teamed up for a project, Piolo says it feels to him like he’s known Lovi “for a while” because of their dynamic on set and Lovi’s “infectious” love for her craft.
“I’ve been around for quite some time but the way I feel, and the way I am with her, parang we’ve known each other for a while because of what she gives me. Because of her commitment to her role, to her craft,” he enthused. “Everyday is such a beautiful way to experience new things with her, especially when she gets [into] her world, her character na napaka-multilayered.”
“‘Yung pagmamahal niya sa craft niya, for me very infectious ‘yun. Hindi ko na kailangang aralin ‘yung character ko because alam ni Lovi ‘yung ginagawa niya and she’s so willing to just give more and be more. Ang open nung relationship namin. Ang open nung the way we relate to each other and ang sarap paglaruan nun,” he added.
“Flower of Evil” follows the story of a man who changes his identity and hides his sketchy past from his wife. Eventually, his wife, who happens to be a detective, uncovers his past identity in the middle of a murder investigation.
Joining Piolo and Lovi in the series are Robert Seña, Epy Quizon, Jett Pangan, Pinky Amador, Kit Thompson, Agot Isidro, Rita Avila, Denise Laurel, Joross Gamboa, and Edu Manzano.
The series also marks Lovi’s first project as a Kapamilya artist. Its official premiere date has yet to be announced.
