Andi Eigenmann believes it’s never too late to learn a new skill, and that includes her long-time dream of being good at surfing.
The “Momzillas” actress took to Instagram last May 21 to share the joy of achieving “her childhood dream” and inspire her followers with photos of herself riding the waves.
“It brings me so much joy to be able to say that I am actually living the surfing dreams of my 11-year-old self,” she wrote in the caption.
Andi, who is turning 32 this June, revealed that she began learning to surf in her late 20s and thought it was “too late” for her to master the sport.
“Getting into it in my late 20s, I thought for a bit that maybe since having 2 more kids it’s good enough for me to have been able to try, and that now is the time to stop. I can watch the kids surf instead, because it's just too late to get good at it,” she continued.
Eventually, Andi’s happiness became her main motivation to surf: “I kept going anyway, because it made me happy, and it made me feel ME.”
“And now, I realize that surfing (more) at 32 has been an even more meaningful experience to me. It's never really too late to learn new things or hone a skill, and even more so to achieve a childhood dream,” she added.
From this experience, Andi has drawn a newfound zest for life. In fact, she’s looking forward to still be surfing with her fiancé, professional surfer Philmar Alipayo, and their children until she’s in her 50s.
“It's a simple thing but it's so fulfilling. Somehow I feel like learning something new at this point brings new meaning and a whole new energy and excitement for life! I can't wait to be in my 50s (hopefully) still doing this together with papa and the kids!” she enthused.
Andi and Philmar are living in Siargao with their two-year-old daughter Lilo and one-year-old son Koa. Andi’s ten-year-old daughter with ex-boyfriend actor Jake Ejercito, Ellie, also lives with them on the island.
The couple recently put up their own surf school and snack bar in Siargao.
