Yeng shows love and acceptance to transgender sibling: 'I want you to be happy'

Yeng Constantino introduced for the first time her sibling Kukie, a transwoman, in her latest vlog published on Tuesday, May 17.

In the 11-minute video, the OPM singer had a heart-to-heart conversation with Kukie and her struggles as a member of the LGBT community in this society.

Personally, Yeng said she has long accepted her sibling despite not having a full grasp of her sexual orientation.

“Aaminin ko rin siguro na I will never be able to understand it. Wala ako sa katawan mo, eh,” she said to Kukie. “Pero I can empathize doon sa feeling of you just want to be treated as a human being kung anuman 'yung orientation na gusto mo.”

It also helped that their parents have always been supportive of them, even to Yeng and her choice to become an artist.

The 33-year-old singer also reiterated her support for her sibling, who wishes nothing but her happiness in life.

“Eto 'yung identity niya, and it’s something I will never be able to fully, fully understand. But I am for you, I want you to be happy, I want you to be healthy, I want you to live a full life,” she said.

Yeng hopes her vlog with her sibling will become an eye-opener to people who are quick to judge others based on what they see. "Because they’re different, we judge them doon sa panlabas.”

“I hope we will be more open, compassionate, and loving kasi 'yun ang kailangan ng mundo," she added.
