‘Life threatening na ‘yung illness ko’: Kris Aquino confirms flight abroad this week

Kris Aquino took to social media to confirm her departure from the Philippines to seek medical treatments for her “life threatening” illness.

In an Instagram post yesterday, May 16, the actress-host revealed that it was last April when she learned that her autoimmune conditions had escalated to “life threatening,” but denied rumors that she is in critical condition in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

"Yung chismis na na-confine ako, na nasa ICU, na nag-aagaw buhay, masyado kayong advance. Para klaro ang lahat and dahil gusto niyong patayin na ako, well, I am not yet dead. I am going to fight to stay alive,” she put the rumors to rest in the video.

In the caption, she announced, "Mula end of April, we found out life threatening na ‘yung illness ko.”

Kris said that she made such information public for those who have been praying for her healing and recovery.

“I’ve always been proud of my honesty and courage. Ginusto ko na makalipad sana ng tahimik pero utang ko po sa mga nagdadasal na gumanda ang aking kalusugan ang mag-THANK YOU and to tell the TRUTH,” she explained.

According to Kris, she has three confirmed autoimmune conditions, which are chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroiditis, and Stage 3 of Churg Strauss Syndrome.

“My team of doctors here and abroad. They are all worried about organ damage in my heart and in my lungs. Kaya lahat ng paraan sinubukan for me to get to Houston soonest,” she shared.

“‘Yung gamot that God willing can help save me doesn’t have FDA approval here or in Singapore and isasabay na po mag-infuse ng chemotherapy as my immunosuppressant. Why? Allergic po ako sa lahat ng steroids,” she added.

With this announcement, Kris implored netizens to refrain from leaving hurtful or malicious comments for the sake of her sons, Joshua and Bimby.

“Not for my sake, pero for my twi sons, one in the autism spectrum & one only 15 - kung balak niyo pong mambastos or mag-comment ng masakit o masama, sa mga sarili niyo na lang pong IG, FB, or chat group sana gawin,” she pleaded.

“Hindi niyo po ako kailangan gustuhin para magpakatao. Please don’t punish Kuya (Josh) and Bimb for being my sons. Hindi po masama ang maglakas ng loob at magsabi ng sobrang bigat na katotohanan,” she said.

In early May of this year, Kris’ initial plans to fly abroad for her treatments were put on hold as she was not cleared by her doctors to travel due to high blood pressure.
