Vhong Navarro, JC de Vera, and Ogie Alcasid have made the firm decision to remain Kapamilya this year!
During the “It’s Showtime” Kapamilya Contract Signing yesterday, March 23, Vhong, JC, and Ogie each expressed their reasons for staying Kapamilyas. They also dedicated words of gratitude to ABS-CBN’s network executives and their supporters for continuously entrusting them with the opportunity to entertain audiences worldwide.
“It’s Showtime” stalwart Vhong attended the contract renewal with mixed emotions, including a sense of disbelief that he’s been given this opportunity.
“Kaba na may kasamang saya,” he described his feelings. “Hindi (ako) makapaniwala na nangyayari ‘to, kasi nung mga panahon na marami tayong pinagdadaanan, hindi ko alam na may magre-renew at magtitiwala sa akin.”
“Hindi nila ako pinabayaan. Marami tayong pinagdaanan. Sabi ko nga, hindi ako bibitaw hangga’t pinagkakatiwalaan ako ng ating mga boss.”
On what to expect from Vhong and the “It’s Showtime” family, he revealed, “Excited ako kapag meron nang madlang people nang magbabalik para mas lalo natin silang mapasaya. Kulang kasi kapag napapanood lang tayo sa TV, dapat mapanood tayo ng live. At gagawin ‘yun ng ABS-CBN dahil gusto natin pasiyahin sila. Soon mangyayari ‘yun. May live audience tayo.”
Meanwhile, JC, who has been a Kapamilya since 2013, described his journey with ABS-CBN as “very fulfilling.”
“Sa sobrang daming challenges na binigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN, natawag ko ‘yung sarili ko na ‘versatile actor’ kasi nga lahat ng challenges na ibinabato sa akin, talagang sinusubukan kong gawin and until now I am still learning,” he said.
Tearfully, JC recalled the “challenging” times brought about by the last three years, which strengthened his loyalty to the network all the more.
He explained, “Nanatili ako na hopeful and proud sa sarili ko na lumalaban din ako kasama nila. I remained faithful and loyal to them kasi nakita ko kung paano nila ipaglaban ‘yung mga tao nila. Lahat kami.”
Veteran singer-actor Ogie felt “honored” to have been offered the chance to continue doing what he loves to do as a Kapamilya talent.
“I’m so honored that at this juncture of my career, I was given a chance again to do what I love to do and that is to sing every Sunday, to perform every Sunday, to make people laugh every single day. That gives me so much joy. At natutuwa ako na ang dami-daming Kapamilya pa rin, at parami pa nang parami pa rin ang Kapamilya na nanonood sa atin. Kaya ako, excited ako, sobrang excited,” he exclaimed.
ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN chief operating officer of broadcast Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN entertainment production and Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi, and ABS-CBN group chief financial officer Rick Tan were in attendance for the contract signing event.
