Ylona Garcia is staying in the US 'for good' to pursue her music career

Ylona Garcia has officially moved to the United States to pursue her music career.

The 19-year-old, who first rose to fame in "Pinoy Big Brother: 737," left the Philippines in 2020 to return to her birth country Australia where she even worked as a crew for a fast-food chain. She later on left her hometown to relocate to Los Angeles.

In a report by The Philippine Star, Ylona opened up about the reason she decided to move to the US "for good."

"The reason why I moved to the US is because I want to start my career. Well, it’s always been my goal ever since I was young. Somehow, a part of me knew that I’d always end up here. Only because it was my goal. It’s always been a dream of mine," said Ylona. "I am staying here for good."

The "PBB" alum admittedly had a hard time "starting from scratch" when she moved. Nonetheless, it was a decision that made her "very, very happy."

“First of all, starting from scratch feels, at times, difficult, but at the same time, it feels really, really nice. Because this is something that I’ve always wanted ever since I was younger. So I feel very, very happy with where I am now," she said.

“I don’t think there was ever a moment where I wanted to stop pursuing music but, you know, I don’t think moving to any country would ever stop that…," she continued. "During the lockdown, I worked in McDonald’s, that was more of something that I have always wanted to do. And I decided, you know what, let’s do it while I have time, okay, but I never wanted to stop the music.”

It was in February 2021 when Ylona joined 88rising, an American multinational music company that gives spotlight to Asian and Asian-American acts like Indonesian musicians NIKI and Rich Brian.

Currently, Ylona is under Paradise Rising, the sister label of 88rising, which is dedicated to establishing and promoting Filipino artists globally in partnership with Globe.
