‘Kun Maupay Man It Panahon’ to premiere in Osaka Asian Film Festival

“Kun Maupay Man It Panahon" ("Whether The Weather Is Fine") is heading to the 17th Osaka Asian Film Festival (OAFF)!

The Black Sheep film starring Daniel Padilla, Charo Santos-Concio, and Rans Rifol adds to its celebrated roster of international screenings with its Japanese premiere in OAFF, which will run from March 10 to 20, 2022.

The movie is set to screen under the festival’s “Spotlight Section,” staged to draw audiences to a diverse array of “new talents and movements in cinema.”

Helmed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, the film centers on the resiliency journey of Norma (Charo) and her son Miguel (Daniel) against the tidal wave of Typhoon Yolanda’s aftermath.

"Whether The Weather Is Fine" will be representing Philippine cinema alongside “Big Night!” and “You and Me and the Ending” in the festival’s biggest showcase yet.

Apart from the OAFF, the film has premiered to international audiences in Bucharest, Canada, Chicago, Hawaii, Iraq, London, Mexico, Singapore, and Switzerland.

On top of the international acclaim spawned by the film in the past year, it also bagged a Best Director win for Carlo Francisco Manatad at the London East Asia Film Festival and a special award at the 74th Locarno Film Festival.

Locally, the film scored multiple awards during the 2021 Metro Manila Film Festival: 2nd Best Picture, Best Actress for Charo Santos-Concio, Best Supporting Actress for Rans Rifol, and Jury Prize Award for Daniel Padilla.
