Vice Ganda on marrying Ion Perez in the PH: 'We will continue celebrating our love'

After having an intimate “wedding” in Las Vegas, Vice Ganda and Ion Perez now plan on holding a similar ceremony in the Philippines in order to celebrate their love while surrounded by their loved ones and close friends.

In a report by ABS-CBN News on February 16, Vice and Ion took to “It’s Showtime” to celebrate their “wedding” which took place last October.

Vice revealed that Ion proposed to him on February 21, 2020. At the time, he wanted to keep the engagement a secret to shield it from potential criticisms.

Despite the uncertainty of how to proceed with getting married especially during the pandemic, Vice expressed how certain and excited he felt to make the commitment to Ion.

They finally grabbed the chance to get "married" around the time of Vice’s concert tour in Las Vegas last October. The ceremony was so spontaneous that they bought “five dollar” rings last minute!

And it just happened. Ang saya-saya namin, ang ganda-ganda nung naranasan namin,” Vice recounted their special day.

Since posting their "wedding" vlog on February 13, Vice expressed their gratitude for the support and love they’ve received from the public.

He also said that they would love to "tie the knot" here in the Philippines even though same-sex marriages are not legally recognized in the country.

Kung may chance, we would love do it in the Philippines para sa ikasasaya ng lahat,” he said of their plans.

We will continue celebrating our love for the two of us and for the people who love us,” he explained.

To those who have supported and celebrated their decision to marry, Vice left a touching message of gratitude.

“Maraming, maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga taong na ipinagdiriwang itong nararamdaman namin at sinasabing ‘dasurv niyo ‘yan,’ ‘happy kami for you,’ ‘sana all.’ Maraming salamat dahil hinayaan niyo kaming maramdaman ito ngayon,” he said.
