Belle Mariano treated her fans to a behind-the-scenes montage of her experience at the 17th Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) in South Korea, where she received the Outstanding Asian Star award.
In a YouTube vlog uploaded on Saturday, October 1, the "An Inconvenient Love" actress made sure to document her whole awards experience, from her flight to South Korea up to the moment she stepped on stage and gave her speech.
After talking briefly with Star Cinema for an exclusive interview at the airport, Belle began writing her speech while waiting with her team for their flight.
“‘Yung speech. As kabado. Sana hindi ako pangunahan ng emotions ko while on stage. Kinakabahan ako. Dalawa lang ‘yan guys, either I go up sa stage with a paper or something, I can read my speech so I can deliver it well. Or isa namang option ko is without it pero I’ll be so emotional. So tingnan natin kung ma-memorize ko naman at hindi ako pangunahan ng emotions ko,” she explained.
Prior to the red carpet event of the prestigious awards ceremony, Belle thanked her supporters in a one-on-one interview.
“Everyone who supported me from the very beginning up to this very day, kamsahamnida!” she exclaimed.
One of Belle’s supporters who showed her real-time support from afar was no other than her mother, Katrina Mariano. On the day of the awards show, Belle’s mom gave the "He’s Into Her” star a call to check on her.
“Yeah, I’m okay naman,” Belle assured her mother.
Then came the moment of Belle’s much-awaited walk on the red carpet. When asked if she’s nervous, Belle played it off by making a face then laughing.
“She’s dead nervous,” the person holding the camera teased Belle.
In the vlog, Belle also revealed a fun fact that bobby pins were used to hold up the back of her dress close to the butterfly sleeve for a better fit.
“Lord, this is all for You,” she said before heading to the red carpet.
As for Belle’s speech, she gave a special mention to her mother, her supporters, and her onscreen partner Donny Pangilinan with whom she will be starring in the upcoming film “An Inconvenient Love.”
As the vlog progressed, it gave fans exclusive offstage sneak peeks that show the warm welcome Belle received in Seoul. Like during the event itself, Belle’s Korean interpreter Uno even gushed over the actress who is the first Filipina to be hailed as the Outstanding Asian Star.
“I love Belle,” he told the camera.
Showing much Filipino pride, Belle was enthused about the event and, after the show was over, she shared, “I can’t describe the whole experience. It’s truly humbling, and it’s truly such an honor to be here and to proudly represent my country, the Philippines. Wow.”
“Gusto ko ng sinigang, please. And sisig,” she playfully remarked in the end.
