Good food and hugot lines await you in the pilot episode of “Plate Twists” which has officially premiered on Rise Artists Studio’s YouTube channel!
In the first episode of the cooking show (with a twist!), Gillian Vicencio and Bianca de Vera took viewers on a fun ride of whipping up quick, budget-friendly, and delicious meals while talking about matters of the heart.
Before revealing their recipes, the “2 Good 2 Be True” co-stars shared about their backgrounds and passions for cooking.
“My dad likes to bake, ‘yung mom ko naman, she’s into cooking. Syempre, you’re gonna learn how to love it din. Ina-associate ko siya sa emotions ko, ang pagluluto. If I’m feeling sweet, magbe-bake ako. If I’m feeling salty, magluluto ako,” Bianca explained.
Meanwhile, Gillian recounted the time she studied culinary arts: “Bata pa lang ako, ‘yung business din ng magulang ko is carinderia so ayun, nag-aral ako for one year tapos nakapag-OJT din ako sa mga cafes, sa mga restaurant.”
“Dito sa ‘Plate Twists’ pagsasamahin namin ang aming skills and emotions to create a new dish na very easy to do at home at ‘PaTox’ na ‘PaTox’ sa ating mga Gen Zs,” Gillian promised viewers.
For their first cookfest, Gillian showed how to make Omu-pancit, her take on the classic Japanese dish Omurice. Instead of rice, she used instant pancit canton as the main carbohydrate component.
To complement Gillian’s dish, Bianca shared with viewers how to make Peach Boba Milk Tea, which is “a more flavorful, crunchier and healthier milk tea with boba made out of peaches.”
ust when we thought this would be a regular cooking show, Gillian and Bianca started to insert hugot one-liners about love and relationships, which admittedly got us even more hooked!
Isalang na natin ‘yung noodles natin para lumambot na. Lumambot na ‘yung puso niyang matigas,” Gillian said.
As she put the oil in the heated pan, Gillian dropped another quote: “Ilagay na natin ‘yung oil na galing sa sachet ng pancit canton. Kasi bakit ka pa bibili o hahanap ng iba kung meron naman na, ‘di ba?”
After adding onions and carrots, Gillian capped off her noodle recipe by mixing pancit canton powder with ketchup and soy sauce, seasoning the chicken with salt and pepper, then adding cabbage last. And in true “Plate Twists” fashion, she also offered a piece of love advice while doing so.
“Low heat lang tayo guys kasi ayaw natin masunog ‘yung niluluto natin. Siguro ganun, ‘wag din masyadong mainit ‘yung relationship. Baka masyado kayong magkainitan at magkasawaan talaga,” she shared.
Before Gillian proceeded to cook scrambled eggs, Bianca explained her take on love at first sight and the concept of love bombing: “I don’t think that’s true love. Because true love takes time.”
“For me, it’s infatuation lang. You can’t love someone based on their looks. You can learn to love the person in the future but love at first sight? Maybe not for me,” Bianca answered.
Just like Bianca’s outlook on love, her Peach Boba Milk Tea is also “sweet, light, and healthy”!
To make the peach syrup, you would need diced peaches, maple syrup, water, vanilla extract, ginger, and a pinch of salt. For the boba, just have pearls, brewed tea, and non-dairy milk at your disposal and you’re good to go!
“You can never go wrong with milk tea, right? Baka sa pagpili ng tamang partner tayo nagkakamali,” Gillian quipped.
While waiting for the peach syrup to cook, Gillian and Bianca bonded over love languages, love at first sight, and red flags! You can learWatch the full episode below:
