Rumors have been abuzz about Boy Abunda leaving ABS-CBN for another network. Today, we’ve finally got answers from the King of Talk himself.
“I have been offered by many. Early on, during the pandemic. ‘Di ko alam bakit pumuputok ngayon ‘yan. Nahihiya tuloy ako sa Channel 7, wala namang offer,” he shared in an interview with Miguel Dumaual for ABS-CBN News.
Although, Boy admitted, “I have been in discussion with various parties, including people who are affiliated with 7. I’ve been offered by other channels. I’ve been asked by people affiliated with TV5. I’ve been negotiating with other independent producers to do talk shows.”
Despite the abundance of opportunities, however, he affirmed, “I’m still waiting for ABS-CBN to have free TV.”
“I will wait. If, halimbawa, free TV ang ABS, we wouldn’t even be talking about this. Iyon lang naman ang inaantay ko. I wanna go back to televesion. I miss television. I miss doing my talk shows on television,” said Boy
The iconic TV host added that he is not closing his doors, but for now, he still got his heart with the Kapamilya network.
“Kung walang-wala na talaga, mag-a-apply na ako sa iba.” He continued, “Hindi totoo na lilipat ako ngayon, pero hindi ko ikinakatwa na merong mga pag-uusap in the past with people connected to various stations. Pero nothing happened, nothing came out of it, because it was too early in the game.”
“Ang sinasabi ko, maghihintay ako hanggang magkaroon ng prangkisa ang ABS-CBN. Mahirap magsalita nang patapos, pero right now the answer is no,” he stated.
Boy currently hosts “The Best Talk”, a program on Kumu produced by ABS-CBN's FYE Channel.
