Maureen Wroblewitz slays in Bangus-inspired national costume for Miss Universe PH

The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidates have showcased their national costumes on Thursday, September 23, and Pangasinan's representative Maureen Wroblewitz was truly a standout.

With the theme “Manila Carnival Queens,” the 23-year-old Star Magic artist dazzled in a Louis Pangilinan creation — an all-silver avant-garde modern Filipiñana inspired by Pangasinan’s treasure, Bangus.

Sharing close-up photos of her wearing the costume, Maureen wrote, "I‘m in LOVE with this beautiful creation by @louispangilinan.ph 🤍"

Louis also revealed in an Instagram post that he also sought inspiration from the province's fine salt beds a.k.a. "pinag-asinan", where the name of the province originated.

The Laguna-based fashion designer shared how he created the national costume in a short TikTok clip, from adding the beads, crystals, and sequin details to Maureen bringing life to the costume.

After the National Costume show, the candidates are set to face the preliminary interview later today, September 24, which will be streamed on KTX.ph.

The pageant coronation will be held on Thursday, September 30 in Panglao, Bohol.
