Iñigo Pascual studies speaking in a Texan accent for Hollywood TV debut

Iñigo Pascual’s Hollywood debut is getting closer and closer! We’re only a few months away from seeing Iñigo star in Fox Entertainment’s upcoming musical drama “Monarch” scheduled to premiere in January 2022.

“Monarch” explores the story of Ace Grayson (played by Iñigo), an adopted grandchild from the Philippines who aspires to be a country artist.

We may have already seen Iñigo in his element in his chart-topping music releases and past acting stints, but this role is definitely a new avenue for Iñigo to stack up his abilities. In an interview with TFC News Hollywood, Iñigo shared his excitement for what’s to come.

"I'd been wanting to share it for the longest time, ever since noong nag-audition ako, nung nakuha ko 'yung role. Right now honestly I'm just so excited to be able to share to everyone, that finally I'm able to share that we got a part to be able to showcase Filipino talent to the world stage. I am so, so grateful for the opportunity given to me," Inigo said about his new role.

As Iñigo fully leans into the role, he has been studying how to best portray his character. And a major part of his training is how to speak with a Southern accent.

"I have been doing a lot of dialogue coaching with my coach. I'm so challenged with it when I'm on set every time,” Iñigo said. “I mean I was in a boy band in Tennessee before but that was barely anything and I didn't really catch on the accent but now, seeing how they're really taking it seriously and how they can do it so naturally, it motivates me to work even harder in that aspect.”

Despite the challenge, Iñigo is proving to be a diligent actor: “Even on set, we have a dialect coach. Before doing a scene, I talk to the dialect coach and I deliver my line to him multiple times asking him, 'Do I sound natural? Do I sound like it's too much? Is it too put on?' And it's so helpful.”

“Monarch” will premiere mid-season for Fox on January 30 in the US.
