John Arcilla breaks down in tears remembering lost loved ones after Volpi cup win

John Arcilla is still over the moon after winning the coveted Volpi cup for Best Actor at the 78th Venice Film Festival.

In an interview with MJ Felipe for “TV Patrol”, the Star Magic artist shared that when he was announced as the winner, he immediately felt like jumping for joy.

“Nakakakilig talaga!

For his performance in Erik Matti’s “On The Job: The Missing 8”, John became the first Southeast Asian actor to ever win the award, and he takes that with great pride and honor.

My Volpi cup is like a World Cup. I won among actors from different nations.”

With all the praises he’s been receiving, however, he couldn’t help but long for the ones from his loved ones that passed away. “My father Dominador Arcilla, my brother Emanuel Gonzales, and my youngest sister, who just left us barely a week ago, Teresa Arcilla.”

John broke down in tears, telling MJ he wishes they were still here to witness this milestone in his career.

The actor was not present at the awards night held in Venice, Italy, but when things let up, he plans on going there and have his own moment.

“When I receive that Volpi cup and the climate is friendlier, I will fly to Venice at once, go to that particular venue in my tux, bring that Volpi, and I will kiss it!”

When asked if he thinks this would open more doors for him in the international film scene, he answered: “Gusto ko yarn!”
