It's safe to say that Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla already have it all — an ideal relationship, thriving careers, a chain of successful businesses, and families that support them 100%. And so the only question left is: when are these two going to get married?
While everything seems to fall into place for Kathryn and Daniel, they believe that it takes more than just being madly in love for you to tie the knot. Still, it doesn't mean these two haven't been talking about the big day in their relationship.
Ahead, we've rounded up all the times KathNiel talked about marriage in their past interviews to give you an idea on when and how they plan to celebrate it:
They plan to hold their wedding before they turn 30
On the same day they confirmed their relationship to the public in 2018, the two have since then been bombarded with questions regarding marriage. While they didn't give an exact date or year, Kathryn and Daniel have been consistent in their interviews that they want to hold it before they turn 30.
“Hindi pa natin alam kung kelan, basta ‘pag kaya na. Pero ayaw ko ‘yung late, kasi importante sa’kin ‘yung personal na buhay… Before 30,” Daniel said during "The Hows of Us" mediacon in 2018.
Kathryn echoed this sentiment of Daniel during the "The House Arrest of Us" virtual conference in 2020.
"Before 30, ayon talaga ang deal namin. Pero may ilang panahon pa kami before 30," she said.
"Napag-uusapan naman na talaga namin 'yun. I think nasa tamang age na kami para i-ready ang mga sarili namin sa puntong 'yun. And now, 'yun ang dahilan kung bakit kami nagtatrabaho ngayon, i-ready 'yong mga kailangang i-ready kasi malaking step 'yun," she added.
They might hold two different weddings
When it comes to where they will hold their wedding, Kathryn and Daniel are willing to compromise since they want different themes. Kathryn said she wants a small, intimate ceremony at the beach, while Daniel prefers a church wedding where all their fans are present.
“Siyempre pinanood nila ‘yung journey namin mula sa simula, eh. Hindi ba nila deserve makita kung saan napunta?” Daniel said, referring to their KathNiel fans.
Their families are an essential part in their decision-making
"Kapag marriage, hindi na lang siya about sa inyong dalawa, and'yan na 'yung pamilya ng both sides," Kathryn said during the "The House Arrest of Us" finale conference.
Daniel also believes the same about being ready, including their families. He said, "Hindi biro ang pagpasok sa isang marriage. Dapat buong-buo ka, dapat personal na handa ka, at hindi na lang sa inyo iikot ang mundo. Kasama na ang pamilya niyo."
Along with this, Kathryn believes their parents should be among the first to know about their plans to get married.
“'Yun yung natutunan namin sa ‘The House Arrest of Us,’ na kailangan pareho kayong ready and 'yung pamilya namin ready. Baka mahimatay si Mama (Min Bernardo) and Tita Karla (Estrada) kapag biglang sinurprise namin sila," Kathryn shared.
They believe in the right timing
It's easy to get pressured when the people around you are all getting married, or are pressuring you to get married. However, KathNiel are not the type to be swayed by pressure since they believe everyone has their own timing.
“Hindi namin puwedeng biglain 'yung mga ganyang bagay," Daniel said during the "The House Arrest of Us" finale conference.
"Sa amin, ha. Siyempre iba-iba naman ang trip ng lahat. Pero kami kasi parang nakaplano 'yun, nakalista 'yung mga dapat naming gawin para hindi rin kami ma-rattle sa mga decision na gagawin namin."
Kathryn also supported Daniel's sentiment. "Like what DJ said kanina, iba-iba tayo ng timing lahat. Kami siguro komportable kami na bago tumalon sa ganyang klaseng buhay, kailangan ready kami. Ayaw namin na masira 'yung relationship just because hindi kami ready pareho,” she said.
They will only get married once they're ready to give everything to each other
Kathryn and Daniel both believe that marriage is a lifetime partnership and commitment. So once they enter that new chapter in their life, it means that they're willing to set aside differences and fully commit themselves to each other for the rest of their lives.
"So kung paano 'yung sinasabi mo sa wedding vows, in sickness and in health, good times and in bad times. Once pumasok ka sa marriage, walang iwanan 'yun and dapat hindi mo ipapa-feel mo sa partner mo na kahit anong mangyari sa life niyo na mag-isa siya. So, victories or failures dapat hawak-kamay kayo ng partner mo,” Kathryn said during the "The House Arrest of Us" finale conference.
Agreeing with Kathryn, Daniel said, "Habang buhay na duty mo 'yan sa partner mo. Kaya hindi basta-basta ang marriage kasi kapag hindi mo kayang ibigay yun, 'wag na muna kasi hindi pa handa. Pero para sa akin kapag kami kinasal na sa tamang panahon, ibig sabihin handa na ako ibigay sa kanya habang buhay lahat."
While being ready is one thing, Daniel clarified in one of Kathryn's vlogs that it shouldn't take a lifetime for you to feel that "readiness."
"Pero wag rin tayo male-late. 'Yun lang 'yung sakin. Alam mo na 'yung sinabi ko sa'yo. Na minsan madami kang gustong gawin pero hindi mo napapansin na napag-iwanan ka na," he said.
