James Reid and Nadine Lustre were undeniably one of the biggest love teams in recent years. We loved them as a couple, rooted for them, and got heartbroken when they split up in 2019.
A lot of time has passed, but are we ready to see the two get into romances of their own? More importantly, are James and Nadine?
The actor got candid about this when Boy Abunda asked him in a recent interview, “Since you and Nadine are both single, are you ready to see her with another suitor?”
His answer was just as honest and raw as he is. “I don't think anyone in that situation is really excited to see the ex with someone else. But you know, that's not my choice,” he said.
James and Nadine have remained to be constant collaborators and close friends, so naturally, he only wants what would bring her joy.
“If I had to decide, of course, I wish her the best. I want her to be happy,” he continued. “I’m not her husband, neither am I her father so she can do whatever makes her the happiest.”
In an interview with Karen Davila last June, Nadine described James as her “great love” and James echoed the same thought, saying she will always be “very special” to him. At the moment, however, they’re enjoying doing their own thing.
“We’re still very good friends. We still work together and she’s always… can be very special to me and right now, she’s doing her own thing, I’m doing my own thing. We’re focused on our careers,” he explained.
He added, “We tried to help her with the music side of things and it’s been great to see her actually be able to take control of her creative direction in a lot of her music, in a lot of her projects.”
To sum up their current relationship, the Careless Music founder shared, “But I mean, how are we going? We’re okay.”
James’ interview comes after rumors started going around about Nadine allegedly dating a man named Christophe Bariou, whom she was spotted hanging out with in Siargao in July.
