It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally happening! Julia Montes is joining Coco Martin on “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and we are beyond excited for it!

It’s been a while since we saw the two share the screen, so we’re thrilled that we’re about to get some CocoJul magic again.

They starred together in the highly successful teleseryes “Walang Hanggan” and “Ikaw Lamang”, as well in the Star Cinema film “A Moment in Time”.

That’s years' worth of developing that intense chemistry that they have, which didn’t come easy AT ALL. In an online exclusive interview with ABS-CBN Entertainment, Coco and Julia revealed that their working relationship didn’t start off as well as we thought.

While working on “Walang Hanggan”, Coco teased Julia that he was not feeling the kilig in their scenes, because he thought she didn’t like him. So she pushed herself and tried harder.

“Siguro in terms of dun sa role, mas pinakita ko sa kanila na kaya ko. ‘Yung sinasabi nila na hindi nila maramdaman? Hindi, kaya ko. Tapos ‘yung mga misconception na akala niya ayaw ko sa kanya, siyempre napagusapan din naman. So mas na-prove ko naman na okay ako sa kanya,” she shared.

Later, Coco revealed that he didn’t mean it and he only said that as a way of getting back at her for rejecting him in the past. But now that Julia is joining his series, the tables have turned. Coco has become the one feeling anxious all of a sudden.

“Ako ‘yung tarantang-taranta, ako ‘yung ninerbiyos,” he admitted, then quipped, “Ewan ko ba bakit ko pinasok ‘to.”

Julia divulged how Coco is guiding her into it, just like he has always been, even with her previous solo projects.

“Ever since naman talagang naka-guide na siya, kahit ‘yung mga past shows ko na kailangan akong humawak ng baril. Nandiyan talaga siya nakatutok, nagtuturo,” said Julia.

She then described how she feels about joining a top-rating show like “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”. “May pressure po siyempre, hindi naman mawawala ‘yun, eh. ‘Pag wala kasing pressure, parang magiging iba ‘yung rapport ng lahat. Siguro ‘yung pressure is more on gusto kong ma-meet ‘yung expectation niya at lahat ng team, kasi lahat talaga dedicated.”

And on Coco, who not only stars in it, but also serves as one of the directors, she said, “I’m just so proud of him sa lahat ng mga na-achieve niya from before hanggang ngayon. I’m happy to be part of this project and this creative side of his.”

When asked whether her role will become friend or foe to Coco’s Cardo, Julia answered, “Both okay, ako. ‘Yun ‘yung masarap sa mapasok sa show na ‘to kasi ‘yung challenge and ‘yung journey ng character mo, hindi basta-basta. Hindi siya ‘yung typical teleserye na ‘pag papasok ka, alam mo na agad. Ito may challenge din as a character, ano pa ‘yung puwede mo pang ibigay ‘pag binigyan ka ng scenario.”

Should fans expect a romance plot? Coco replied that they are in for something they’ve never seen before.

“Hindi namin ibibigay kung ano man ‘yung iniisip or kung ano ‘yung ine-expect ng mga manonood, kasi nga kami lagi namin pinaghahadaan ano ‘yung bagong makikita ng mga viewers natin. Kahit ako, honestly, ‘di ko pa masabi ano mangyayari o ito ‘yung character niya,” he said.
