Vilma Santos recalls how separation with Edu Manzano was taken by son Luis

When Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano decided to end their relationship after two years of marriage, they knew the next thing they had to do was break the news to their son Luis.

While filming a vlog for Luis’ channel, the Star for All Seasons recalled how that happened and how he took it as a child.

“Unfortunately, hindi naging successful ‘yung marriage namin ni Eduardo. I think you were four years old then, anak,” she shared.

The award-winning actress said that they chose to take Luis to Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig and tell him there.

“Kaya ka namin doon dinala ng Daddy mo kasi walang tao doon. Basta 'yun ang naaalala ko. And then kinausap ka naming dalawa. Kahit na four years old ka noon, pinaliwanag namin kung ano 'yung nangyayari sa relationship namin. At pinaalam namin sa iyo na mahal ka naming dalawa,” she explained.

Vilma then revealed what Luis told the both of them. “Alam mo kung anong sinagot mo anak? Naalala mo? Sabi lang niya sa amin, 'It's okay. Boy need girl, girl need boy.' 'Yun ang sinabi mo, anak.”

Vilma is now married to Senator Ralph Recto, the father of her second child Ryan Christian. And even though she and Edu did not end up together, she still considers him as family.

“Anyway, kami ngayon ng dad mo, napakaganda ng aming pagsasamahan,” she told Luis. “Meron din siya, at maligaya siya sa kanyang buhay ngayon, and same here. Basta ang importante, we're one family, anak.”
