Another feat for “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon" (Whether The Weather Is Fine)!
The film starring Daniel Padilla, Rans Rifol, and Charo Santos-Concio was awarded the Cinema e Gioventù Prize from the Conscoso Cineasti del presente Junior Jury at the 74th Locarno Film Festival, where it had its world premiere.
The good news was posted on the film’s Facebook page on Sunday, August 15. This special award is an “educational initiative of the festival aimed at students aged between 18 and 23.” Every year, the designated youth juries evaluate which among participating films would receive it.
“Kun Maupay Man It Panahon”, helmed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, was also the only Philippine entry in Concorso Cineasti del Presente, the section where films by up and coming directors are featured.
He was joined by Rans, executive producer Quark Henares, producers Vincent Wang and Armi Cacanindin, and writer Jérémie Dubios at the Locarno premiere in Switzerland.
The film is now heading to the Toronto International Film Festival for its North American premiere this September.
