Kris Aquino is out here living her life. Enjoying time with her kids, taking care of herself, and giving a mystery man a birthday greeting without caring what anyone thinks.
The actress stirred up the curiosity of her fans when she uploaded this text card on her Instagram page on Wednesday, August 11. It says, “Thank you for coming into my life… Happy birthday!”
Kris knew her post could spark rumors, but because the man whom she dedicated it to is so “special” to her, she decided it’s worth it.
“I thought long and hard whether to upload this, because I know what kind of speculation I’ll be starting… BUT he really did come when my grief was unbearable; he continues to give me unselfish support & comfort; he’s been around for all my ups and downs, health woes, and tears,” Kris explained.
Not only that this mystery man has been by her side, he has earned the trust of her son Bimby as well.
She revealed, “Plus, Bimb likes him… most of all he makes me feel taken care of, secure, and SAFE. So he is deserving of this birthday greeting that all of you are now seeing (care bears na kung anong iisipin ninyo) BECAUSE for me, he is #special. 💛”
In spite the good nature of her post, however, Kris still received some hate for it. One netizen even went out of his way to let her know that doing this makes her a “narcissist” and felt sorry for a certain former DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government) secretary for being put on the spotlight. He also told her she should just “abolish” her social media accounts.
The Queen of All Media responded by reiterating that she didn’t “name names” and she sees nothing wrong with what she posted. She then told the netizen she wouldn’t simply take down her social media accounts as she worked hard to build a connection with her 4.8 million followers on Instagram and 4.5 million on Facebook.
The netizen replied to Kris’ comment to imply that she’s only seeking attention for political agenda. This earned him another response, but this time, it wasn’t Kris who wrote it. It was former Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento who answered using her account.
In addition, Mel confirmed that he is the man on the receiving end of Kris’ message.
Mel, who turned 59 on August 11, served in the DILG from 2015 to 2016 under Kris’ brother, the late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
