If you've been a long-time fan of Zanjoe Marudo, then you have surely witnessed his growth from being a "Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition'' housemate to becoming one of Kapamilya's most in-demand leading men. He went from portraying rom-com heartthrobs to sexy guys, and even dabbled in dad roles.
And as he officially gears up for the upcoming Philippine adaptation of "Doctor Foster," "The Broken Marriage Vow," let's all look back to his evolution as an actor in series and movies:
After his "PBB" win, Zanjoe starred in a number of sitcoms, fantasy series, and drama anthologies before finally making his big-screen debut in the 2007 rom-com "You Got Me!" alongside Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby.
In the following year, Zanjoe landed his first lead role in a teleserye in the Anne Curtis-starrer "Dyosa." He played the comic illustrator Mars, who was responsible for making the comic book masterpiece "Dyosa."
2009 was quite a busy year for Zanjoe who starred in three teleseryes — the rom-com series "The Wedding," the TV adaptation of 1973 Susan Roces flick "Florinda," and the PH adaptation of the Korean drama "Lovers in Paris." It was also during that year when he joined "Banana Sundae" as one of the hosts.
He also starred in the Eugene Domingo comedy "Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme."
In 2010, Zanjoe was cast in two "Precious Hearts Romances" stories, "Love Is Only in the Movies" and "Kristine."
He also topbilled the horror comedy "Cinco" where he starred in the segment "Puso" alongside Pokwang. He was also cast for a supporting role in "Sa'Yo Lamang" where he portrayed Elvis.
Zanjoe starred in yet another Star Cinema movie in 2011, the comedy film "Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi," where he starred alongside Wendell Ramos, Toni Gonzaga, and Eugene Domingo.
2012 was quite a big year for Zanjoe because he starred in three films: the second installment of "Kimmy Dora," "Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme," the romance film "24/7 in Love," and the Metro Manila Film Festival entry "One More Try."
He also starred in another "Precious Hearts Romances" story titled "Hiyas," where he made women swoon with his portrayal of Silang.
Zanjoe portrayed his first role as a father in the 2014 series "Annaliza," the doting dad of Andrea Brillantes in the show. In the same year, he also topbilled two comedy films, "Bromance: My Brother's Romance" and the last installment of "Kimmy Dora," "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel."
Following his successful portrayal as a father figure in "Annaliza," Zanjoe was again cast for a dad role in "Dream Dad" as the father of Jana Agoncillo.
Movie-wise, Zanjoe was still on a roll after he topbilled the comedy film "My Illegal Wife" with Pokwang, and the horror movie "Maria Leonora Teresa" with Iza Calzado and Jodi Sta. Maria.
2016 gave us the iconic character of Zanjoe as Natoy in the afternoon series "Tubig at Langis." He also portrayed his first gay character in the drama "The Third Party" alongside Angel Locsin and Sam Milby.
Zanjoe portrayed another paternal role in "My Dear Heart" where he played as the adoptive father of Heart (Nayomi Ramos) in the series. He also starred alongside Rhian Ramos in the romance movie "Fallback" in the same year.
The actor was tapped for yet another dad role in 2018 for the morning series "Playhouse" as the father figure to the orphaned godson of his ex-wife Patty portrayed by Angelica Panganiban.
Zanjoe also had a back-to-back big screen outing in "Kusina Kings" and "To Love Somebody."
While he lay low in 2019, 2020 remained to be big for Zanjoe as he starred in the iWant series "My Single Lady," iWant movie "Malaya," and the primetime series "Walang Hanggang Paalam."
