Lara Quigaman was recently hospitalized due to acute pyelonephritis or a kidney infection.
In a report by PUSH, the former beauty queen shared on her Instagram Stories that they had just returned from Cebu when she started feeling sick.
"Sobrang nag-enjoy kami sa Cebu, pero napagod din pala ako. Pag-uwi sa bahay, naramdaman ko ang sobrang pagod. Pati likod ko sobrang sakit. May 3 bata pang sobrang clingy at medyo 'di ko na kinaya," she wrote.
"I had a meltdown. Naiyak ako at sabi ko sa sarili ko, gusto ko lang muna mag-isa. Magpahinga. Gusto ko ng tahimik... Maya-maya, nilagnat na ako, nag-chills," she added.
After experiencing high fever and chills for two days, Lara said she needed to be rushed to the hospital for further examination. She was also isolated until her COVID-19 test came back negative.
"I felt guilty for wanting to rest. I got what I wished for, but it was horrible, I was in pain and shivering, and alone. But God knew I needed to rest. He reminded me that my children will survive without me. That I also need to take care of me," she wrote in another Instagram Story.
Lara said she had to spend three nights in the hospital before she was allowed to finally go home.
"Nakapag-selfie na ako dito kasi pinayagan na ako umuwi ng doctor. Acute pyelonephritis. I was given antibiotics via IV. Now getting better. Thank You, Jesus!" she said.
The actress is currently in recovery and back to spending time with their kids. She also reminded everyone to "rest too when you need to."
Lara and her husband Marco Alcaraz flew to Cebu for a week-long vacation in celebration of their wedding anniversary and the actor's birthday.
