Carlo Francisco Manatad's "Kun Maupay Man It Panahon," starring Charo Santos-Concio, Francinne Rifol, and Daniel Padilla, will finally have its world premiere at the 74th Locarno Film Festival.
ABS-CBN Films, Black Sheep made the announcement across its social media accounts today, July 1. The feature film is an official selection at the Cineasti del Presente section of the said film fest.
With an English title "Whether the Weather is Fine," "Kun Maupay Man It Panahon" is set against the backdrop of Typhoon Yolanda and tells the story of Miguel (Daniel) who is searching for his mother Norma (Charo) and his beloved Andrea (Francinne) just before another storm approaches them.
The film is a joint production of iWantTFC, Quantum Films, ABS-CBN Black Sheep, Dreamscape Entertainment, Globe Studios, together with Cinematografica, Plan C, Weydeman Bros. (Germany) House on Fire (France), AAND (Singapore), and KawanKawan (Indonesia).
It was developed at the La Fabrique des Cinema du Monde (Cannes), TorinoFilmLab Europe and Semaine dela Critique’s Next Step (France) and is supported by the TorinoFilmLab Co-Production Award (Creative Europe), Aide Aux Cinema du Monde of CNC and Institut Francais (France), Film Development Council of the Philippines, and the World Cinema Fund (Germany).
The prestigious Locarno Film festival, the world capital of auteur cinema, will be held this August 4 to August 14, 2021.
