Months before the passing of former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, he and his younger sister Kris Aquino had a misunderstanding. In several statements, the actress shared that they have managed to reconcile, but refused to reveal how or what even caused their rift.
Through her management, Cornerstone Entertainment, Kris sent a message to ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, June 29, hinting about a moment between her and Noynoy that happened at the Makati Medical Center on May 18.
“There’s so much I prefer to keep to myself. Something special happened on May 18, the very fact that the entire Makati Medical Center kept our secret has made me admire and respect them 100% for their professionalism and compassion. And since they did this for us and honored my brother by protecting our privacy and keeping our secret, I am following their lead,” said Kris.
She added, “The right time will come when my sisters and I shall share our journey with our brother when we have already accepted his loss.”
On Instagram, the “Feng Shui” star paid tribute to her brother with exclusive clips taken from his cremation and their family’s private viewing inside Heritage Park last Thursday, June 24.
These were shot by Kris’ own team since no other media crews were allowed inside, but she thought their family need footage for their archives.
“Our moments in Heritage,” she wrote on the caption. “Na-realize ko that unlike with our mom, you never got to see Noy in his casket.”
“I asked my Ate if it was okay for my team to shoot all throughout because they would have access that the rest of the media would not,” Kris continued. “Here are moments you did not see because no cameras were allowed inside Heritage before our brother’s cremation and during the private viewing.”
Then Kris gave a few details away on what happened between her and Noynoy and where it started.
“Marami po talaga akong gustong ibahagi sa inyo tungkol sa journey namin bilang magkapatid dahil alam ko how profoundly the experience has changed me. BUT the TRUTH is IG is the venue where our ‘feud’ started, so in my heart I know it’s also not where I should share kung paano nagsimula ang unang mga hakbang para lumambot na ang puso niya, at lahat ng paraan na ginawa ko para mapangiti lang siya,” she explained.
Kris said she's waiting for a sign from her brother when would be the right time to tell their story.
“I am praying that Noy will give me, ‘bunso’ as he refers to me to all those closest to him, a clear sign when he is ready for me to tell all of you our story. Until then, this bunso has learned her lessons and will stay silent,” she ended.
Noynoy died peacefully in his sleep due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. His remains are buried next to their parents, former president Corazon “Cory Aquino” and former senator Benigno Simeon "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., at the Manila Memorial Park
