If there's a phrase that Nadine Lustre would use to describe her ex James Reid, it would be "great love."
In an interview with Karen Davila where she happily showed her mother's plant shop in Quezon City, the actress-singer also candidly talked about the relationship she had with the actor.
At this point, Nadine said that she's still currently healing, not just from her heartbreak but everything she's going through in life.
"Healing naman kasi is, I guess, a general thing for me. Even with my brother’s death, I’m still healing. It still gets me. Healing is a long process. You never stop healing from anything,” she said.
“I guess we’re going through things, artistas are pretty much the same. We’re also humans. But it is also different for everyone."
Nadine also revealed for the first time that their breakup actually happened in November 2019, two months before they announced it to the public in January 2020.
"We were talking about it na [in November 2019]. It wasn’t really a bad breakup. We just wanted to work on ourselves,” Nadine stressed.
“I get that people are sad about it, but for us, it was a mutual decision. He had to take care of his family, focus on his career. And I had to focus on my career and take care of my family as well. That’s why we remain friends. Like there’s no bad blood or anything. No [third party]. Wala talaga. It was a mutual decision” she reiterated.
It wasn't news that the two have been living together, and according to Nadine, the moment she moved out of James' home felt like a fresh start for her.
“When I moved out, you know, it was like the start of a new chapter. Kasi I had to grow. We both had to grow,” she said. "I believe naman kasi that if guys are meant to be together, it will fall into place."
Above all this, Nadine is very grateful for what she had with her "great love," especially during the time she was grieving over the death of her brother.
“Naging stand siya for me kasi I was so depressed. I could not eat. I had no appetite. Down talaga ako. Siya talaga 'yung humawak sa akin and kept me standing," she recalled.
“We learned a lot of things. We grew a lot. We were helping out each other. Hindi siya 'yung basta-basta na pa-sweet lang. Marami akong natutunan sa relationship namin. A lot of me changed because of that, for the better of course. I opened up myself to a lot of new things. Great love talaga siya,” she said.
