Vice Ganda admitted that his love for shopping is still at its peak, but his spending “problem” has gotten a lot better since the pandemic.
“I did not stop, pero my mindset changed,” he revealed in a virtual interview with Preview.
The Kapamilya star confessed that the moment he realized that he had nothing else left to save for, he went all out with the “little things” that make him happy.
“Hindi na siya as malala as before. Dati talaga ang lala, eh. Especially when I finished the house, nung binayaran ko na lahat ng kailangan kong bayaran sa house, tapos wala naman na akong pagkakagastusan, may bahay na ‘ko, may sasakyan na ‘ko, okay naman na ‘yung family ko, sabi ko kung ano na lang ‘yung mga little things na makakapagpasaya sa akin, I will purchase,” he said.
Although Vice can get a little “extra”, he still knows his limit and never spends beyond what he can afford. “Lagi pa rin akong nagco-compute, lagi akong nagco-convert. ‘Di ako gagastos ng kalahati ng talent fee ko sa isang araw.”
The “It’s Showtime” host sees nothing wrong with this hobby, especially that it’s his only way to enjoy his hard-earned money.
“I still buy, kasi it gives me joy and why not give myself joy? Second, it does not affect my finances. ‘Di ko naman siya ikinahihirap, if it will make me stylish but poor, I will stop. I want to be stylish, but I don’t want to be poor. I will never be poor again. I try to be very smart when spending,” said Vice.
He continued, “In this time of the pandemic, my mental health needs it… Wow, binigay ko talaga ng dahilan para mag-shopping?!”
One of the things he got better at was learning that it’s okay to repeat outfits, which is something he is not used to after being on a daily noontime show for more than a decade now. “‘Di ako nag-uulit ng damit dati, kasi ‘yung mga netizens din nakakaloka alam nila ‘yung date, alam nila ‘yung episode, [tapos] ire-repost nila,” he said.
But, don’t worry, the outfits Vice doesn't wear again on TV do not go to waste. “At tsaka ‘yung mga damit ko rin naman, kinukuha ng mga bakla, ‘yung mga kaibigan ko. So bili lang ako nang bili. ‘Di rin talaga siya naiipon.”
Vice will be staging his first digital concert, titled "Gandemic: The VGtal Concert," on KTX this July. You can get your tickets here: (https://www.ktx.ph/category/gandemic-the-vgtal-concert)
