We get kilig whenever we learn that our favorite idols would have a concert or fan meeting in the country. But what more if they actually lived and studied here?
Yup, a number of Korean stars once considered the Philippines as their home as they stayed here for quite some time, be it for work or school. Below are some of the celebs who shared their stories of staying here in the country:
Sandara Park
It's quite common knowledge among Filipinos that Sandara lived in the Philippines, and was once a Kapamilya before she became a K-Pop idol. She lived in the country for 13 years before she flew back to Korea in 2007 where she debuted as a member in the K-Pop group 2ne1.
ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo
The "True Beauty" actor and ASTRO member actually lived and studied in the country for six months, which he revealed in an interview with ABS-CBN back in 2019. According to Eun Woo, he lived here to study English in the first grade.
"True Beauty's" Hwang In Yeop
Eun Woo's "True Beauty" co-actor In Yeop also studied in the Philippines, and actually holds a degree in Fashion Design from the Philippines Women's College of Davao.
In a Facebook post by the Fine Arts and Design Students Organization, In Yeop was part of their org and is an alumnus of the PWC Fine Arts Program Batch 2012. He even used to model for his fellow fashion students!
BTOB's Yook Sung Jae
If you're wondering why Sungjae knows how to speak Tagalog and Bisaya during his fanmeet, it's because he actually stayed in the Philippines for a short period of time! The BTOB member and "School 2015" actor revealed that he lived in Cebu a few years back to study English.
iKon's Kim Jin Hwan
Jin Hwan actually resided in Cebu for seven months prior to his debut in iKon. This is what the member revealed during his guesting on Arirang radio in 2017. He even gave a little sample of a Tagalog phrase he knows, which is "Mahal namin kayo." Kilig!
Mamamoo's Solar
Yup, the gorgeous Mamamoo member lived in the country, although it was only for a short while. During their fan meeting in 2019, Solar recalled how her family sent her to Manila when she was 12 to study English. After her two months staying in the country, Solar said she didn't want to go back to Korea but her family asked her to do so, so she had no choice but to go back home.
Pentagon's Kino
Like Solar, Kino stayed in the country for just a short while to study English. According to the Pentagon member, he lived here for three months and that he really loved the food here in the Philippines.
