Her star may not be as bright as it used to be, but Jessy Mendiola says she’s okay with that.
When answering “savage” questions people sent her for a vlog, the actress shared her thoughts about being called “laos”.
“Hindi ko naman din nakikita ko ‘yung sarili ko as super sikat, ‘yung superstar or whatever,” she admitted. “I don’t feel hurt or anything. In a way, medyo totoo naman din na hindi na rin talaga ako super active. Wala rin naman talaga ako magagawa, but I’m just really thankful na kumbaga na sa circulation pa ako ng showbiz.”
In the video, the former “Maria Mercedes” star also addressed her viral moment from 2016 where she infamously said, “What am I to say to that?” after being praised by now-husband Luis Manzano in an interview at the Star Magic Ball.
“Well, medyo nasaktan ako nung time na ‘yun. Kasi ang sinabi ko talaga, ‘What am I to say to that?’ How am I going to respond to that or ano ba ‘yung isasagot ko dun sa question na ‘yun? And nung time na ‘yun, medyo kinakabahan ako, kasi ‘yun ‘yung na sobrang bina-bash kami ni Luis. ‘Di ko lang alam kung pa’no magre-react sa isang napakalaking event na ‘yun,” she explained.
“That was a few months after namin ilabas sa public na kami na ni Luis and we got a lot of hateful comments during that year,” she continued. “Kumbaga, dire-diretso lang ‘yung pagsasalita ko, pero ‘di talaga ako nag-iisip.”
Jessy admitted that her English isn’t perfect as it isn’t her first language, but she’s learning and hopes that people would stop making fun of others for trying.
She was asked about her relationship with ex JM de Guzman as well and revealed that, though she can’t say that they have become friends after breaking up, they are cordial towards each other.
“Hindi naman din talaga kami friends. Kahit papaano si JM, siyempre naging parte siya ng buhay ko and all is well. Nakapag-move on na kami parehas. Whenever I see him, I say hi and same rin naman din siya sa akin,” said Jessy.
Later, she added that one of the reasons behind their split was that they are both “emotional” and that they are just “not meant to be.”
When the 28-year-old got to a question asking if she’s pregnant, Jessy replied that she is not, but assured that she would share it to everyone when it happens. She also said that she sees herself and Luis having two to three kids.
Jessy and Luis got married at The Farm in Lipa City, Batangas last April. The ceremony was attended by their family and closest friends.
