Karla Estrada revealed what her kids Daniel Padilla, Carlito, Maggie, and Carmela’s reactions were on her film “Momshies! Ang Soul Mo’y Akin!” and as their mom, it was just what she expected.
“Ay, tawang-tawa sila. Tawang-tawang alam mong kinahihiya ka. Ganun,” she said in jest during an interview with Push.
The “Magandang Buhay” host had to do a lock-in shoot with her co-stars/co-hosts Jolina Magdangal and Melai Cantiveros as a pandemic safety protocol, so she wasn’t able to come home for a period of time. Her kids, however, didn’t seem to mind.
“Wala silang pakialam,” Karla quipped. “More on bilin. Malalaki na kasi mga anak ko. They know how to get in touch with me any time na gusto nila. So alam nila kung paano na ako magtatrabaho na-explain ko na, kasi malalaki na sila. So it wasn’t hard for me.”
What didn’t come easy for the actress was coming to realize that her children aren’t kids anymore and are likely to spend less time with her.
“‘Yung cuddling ko sa two girls ko kasi ‘yung mga boys ko hindi na naman talaga nagpapahuli ‘yun, eh. ‘Pag nakita ako parang isa-isa silang parang nagtataguan kami dito sa bahay,” she shared.
But rather than sulking about it, Karla chose to see this change as something that would benefit her as well.
“Kasi na-realize ko lang itong pandemic na ‘yung mga anak na binata, they’re in their 20s. Daniel is 26, Carlitos is 24. Ang ginagawa nilang hindi na masyadong sweet or connected sa akin ay para din sa akin na makapag-let go ako, kasi eventually alam ko na magpapamilya na ‘yung mga anak ko. I guess natutulungan nila ako kasi bilang single parent napakahirap bumitaw sa anak,” she continued.
Karla added, “Pero ang nakita ko, mas natutulungan ako ng mga anak ko na, ‘O ma, relax, puwede na tayo maghiwa-hiwalay.’ Ibig sabihin magda-dagdag lang naman. I’m just saying in the future hindi ko naman sinasabing ngayon.”
Even her younger children Maggie and Carmela are starting to do things on their own. Because of this, Karla reminded moms like her to just be ready and accepting when this happens.
“My girls are still with me even though hindi na ako sinasamahan dito sa kuwarto kasi mga dalaga na sila, so ganun pala. Eventually, magkakaroon sila ng kanya-kanyang sariling mundo at buhay. So fasten your seatbelts, mga momshies, especially kung ang ‘yong naging buhay ay mga anak mo at trabaho. Realizations lang ‘yung sa akin,” said Karla.
