Bela Padilla took to Twitter yesterday, May 26, to detail a "rip-off" experience she recently had with Philippine customs.
The actress started by saying she was contacted by a Spanish brand offering to send her some shoes. Bela agreed and they settled on the details, and the items were confirmed to have been shipped in April.
After a month of waiting, Bela still has not received the shoes and decided to contact the brand for updates. According to them, the package was held up at customs because they were being charged an additional PHP10,500, even though the shipping fee has already been paid.
And last May 24, Bela directly contacted shipping courier DHL in order to get her package, and she was told she needed to pay the PHP10,500 shipping fee and an additional PHP9,000 in order to receive the shoes, as well as provide documentation that she actually bought the products. In the end, however, Bela was told that she wouldn't be able to get the package because it has already been marked "abandoned."
The actress closed her Twitter thread by saying this isn't the first time it happened. "I wanna know where they get these rates that they seem to pull out of thin air. This isn’t the first time. Our customs, always a rip-off," she said.
