'In my heart, I did everything I can': Rabiya Mateo pens message after Miss Universe 2020 journey

It will forever be an honor for Rabiya Mateo to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2020 competition.

Hours after the recently concluded pageant, the Ilongga beauty posted on Instagram as she officially wrapped up her Miss Universe journey.

"It was such a beautiful moment to represent you, Philippines. I am forever honored to be part of the legacy, of our history," she wrote.

"In my heart, I did everything I can. I trained really hard to be physically fit. I would have sleepless nights trying to read articles to be updated. I made a lot of sacrifices people can't sometimes see. Early call time. Late night rest. Trying to be sane and motivated. It was a challenge but it made me so much stronger everyday."

She then ended her post thanking everyone who supported her. "Salamat mga kababayan! Mahal ko kayo!"

Rabiya finished in the Top 21 of the pageant held yesterday, May 17 (PH time).

While she failed to take home the fifth Miss Universe crown for the country, she was still able to continue the Philippines' 11-year streak of making it to the Top 20 contestants of the competition.
