In case you didn't know: Bragais, a local shoe brand by Jojo Bragais, is the official footwear sponsor of Miss Universe 2020.
In an interview with Preview, Jojo shared how he was tapped by the organization to be the designer of the candidates' shoes for the 69th Miss Universe competition.
Jojo said that he received a phone call from Mario Garcia, the Marketing and Business Development Head of Miss Universe Philippines, asking him if he would be interested in designing shoes for the Miss Universe candidates.
While he was doubtful at first, a phone call from Miss Universe's Shawn Mcclain himself made him say yes to do the job, where he got a month's time to finish the design.
"It is a great opportunity to have a Filipino brand represented on an international stage," he said in the interview.
The local designer said that he chose the Jehza pair as the official shoes for the candidates, which comes in three flattering nude tones to "make the girls feel like there's at least a pair of nude heels that is in a shade closer to their skin tone."
Jojo also said that the pairs he designed are his way to show support for the candidates vying for the crown.
"[The shoes] is a piece of me silently cheering the candidates," he said. "I want my shoes to be a good support and something you can depend on in times that matter the most, in the most important walk in someone's life."
The Miss Universe 2020 will be held this May 16 (May 17, 8 AM in PH time) in Florida, USA.
