The "Pinoy Big Brother" alum won the award over Japanese actors Hideyuki Kawahara and Yuh Kamiya who starred in the movie "Sin-Gone Irony."
Elated over the news of his win, Kit took to Instagram to express his gratitude to the people who made the film possible.
"Everyone has their own turn. I honestly didn’t think I’d win best actor. I was already happy when I found out I was nominated for best actor," Kit wrote on Instagram.
"I’d like to thank my director @attyjoji for trusting me with your first feature film. Thank you for the patience and the time. Also, to my partner @missmylenedizon for guiding me, I wouldn’t have done it without you," he added.
Mylene Dizon was also nominated for Best Actress for "Belle Douleur," but the award went to Japan's Nao Hasegawa for her performance in "Beautiful Lure."
"Belle Douleur," which translates to "beautiful pain," tells the story of a woman who has a love affair with a man half her age.
The iWant Original film, which premiered and won at the 2019 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, marks the directorial debut of long-time film producer Joji Alonso.
