Toni Gonzaga was shocked by some of the statements made by JM de Guzman on her digital talk show “I Feel U” last Sunday, April 25.
When she mentioned the “fulfillment” he must have felt from his past achievements, including becoming a Philippine Air Force reservist with a rank of sergeant, JM agreed, but then he added, “Lalo na ‘pag may mga blessings ka na natatanggap na hindi mo deserve.”
However, since overcoming that, he has received new opportunities, like his telerserye “Init sa Magdamag”, which he believes is something he earned. “Ngayon siguro [itong teleserye], ‘yun deserve ko.”
Later in the interview, the “That Thing Called Tadhana” star brought up his past again when Toni got to his process of getting into a character.
JM shared that when preparing for a role, he now prefers to just lean towards what’s written on script, rather than get into method acting like he did before.
“I get into character, pero ayaw ko lang sa method is ginagamit pa rin ‘yung mga personal experience o may gagamitin ako sa buhay ko na tao,” he revealed. “For example, pamilya.
Fans, however, shouldn’t have to worry because JM says so himself that he is in much a better place. He said that he’s been “taking care of myself” and “still seeking to improve my craft.”
His role in “Init sa Magdamag” as the ambitious Peterson Alvarez helps him a lot too, as this character teaches him just the lessons he needs.
While on the topic of “pagmamahal”, Toni asked him if he’s well enough to fall in love again and, again, his response came as a surprise for Toni.
Ewan ko kung ano pang mangyayari, pero I’m preparing and making it stronger.”
But, whether love comes or not, JM also stated he’s now “contented” and “happy.”
