Our girl Liza Soberano is taking on a new role!
The always-stunning Kapamilya actress will lend her voice for the character of Alexandra Trese in the Filipino anime adaptation of Budjette Tan and KaJo Baldisimo's original comic series “Trese”, Netflix announced today, March 8.
The “Alone/Together” star also the shared the news on Twitter and expressed her delight to play a strong female icon like Alexandra.
“Screaming on the inside!!!!!!” Liza tweeted. “It’s an honor to be the voice of an iconic character such as Alexandra Trese.”
She added, “I’m a huge fan of Budjette and KaJO’s award-winning ‘Trese’ comics. Maraming salamat! Excited na ‘ko!”
The upcoming Netflix series will also have an English version with Filipino-blooded “Pretty Little Liars” and “You” actress Shay Mitchell playing the titular role.
Slated to premiere later this year, “Trese” is set in Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.
Last year, Netflix debuted the Filipino adult animation film “Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story”, top-billed Robin Padilla, Sam Milby, and “Love or Money” star Angelica Panganiban.
