Being in the entertainment industry for 20 years has taught Toni Gonzaga so much. But that’s nothing in comparison to the lessons she has learned from the current pandemic.
“Mas marami akong natutunan kaysa sa 20 years ko sa industry,” she told Boy Abunda in their special interview for “I Feel U”.
What the world is struggling with now has made the Kapamilya star question some of her choices in life and it has given her a whole new set of “perspective, mindset, and values.”
“Kasi everything was stripped down. You’re not exempted from COVID, anxiety in economy, etc,” she explained. “Then you will reflect on what truly matters, what you value in life, what are you chasing, why are you here, what are you doing in your life.”
Before, one of the main things on her mind was always work. But now, she has learned to take a pause to see and appreciate everything else that she should be thankful for.
“Dati gigising ka, schedule mo iniisip mo, ngayon ‘pag gising mo, kung sino katabi mo at masaya ka. Magiging grateful ka,” Toni shared.
She added, “Akala mo ang dami pang kulang pero mare-realize mo, ang dami mo palang sobra.”
The “Last Night” actress also reflected on her reasons for working and came to the thought that she should be doing it not to fill her bank account, but her heart.
“Driven sa pera, you work for money. Which is wrong pala, you work for passion. You do it ‘cause there’s a purpose behind it. Purpose rather than profit, mas nakakataba ng soul,” she related.
But the greatest epiphany she’s had was brought by none other than her son Seve.
“I became the person I am supposed to be. The real me and woman in me. He awakened the real me,” said Toni.
Expect more revelations from her on the second part of her “I Feel U” interview with Boy Abunda on Sunday, April 4, at 9:30am and 5pm on Star Cinema’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
