Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan was introduced as the voice behind "Gabay," the first-ever Filipino-language song from Disney for its latest animated film feature “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
Today, March 2, Walt Disney Studios Philippines made the announcement on their Facebook page. In a report by ABS-CBN News, the studio's marketing head Allie Benedicto revealed that Disney Philippines handpicked the actress to give life to the track.

Allie also said that the song "demonstrates our commitment to work with local creative talents to tell our stories in a locally relevant manner.”
KZ also said that she is grateful and "proud to be part of history."
"I feel very proud to be singing in my language and show off its beauty to the rest of the world. I grew up watching Disney movies. Finally, there is a Disney Princess who I can feel a very strong connection to, and that is Raya as the first one inspired by Southeast Asia," she said.
In "Gabay," KZ is reminded of how "strength" and "unity" play a huge role in changing the world.
“I love that the song reminds us that sometimes we feel we are weak, especially when we are alone, but if we just learn to trust each other, to come together, and to unite, only then are we able to change the world,” she said.
“Gabay” will be released this March 5 on Spotify, coinciding with the Disney+ premiere of “Raya and the Last Dragon” in the United States.
