BGYO has arrived and they are ready to conquer.
Its members Gelo Rivera, Nate Porcalla, JL Toreliza, Mikki Claver, and Akira Morishita all dreamed of making it big and now that they finally debuted after training for over a year, they only plan on showing us their very best.
Their first single “The Light” was released on the same day of their launch last January. They had been waiting for it for so long and at that moment, all they could think of was how lucky and excited they are.
Napaiyak na lang kami lahat,” said JL during the boys’ interview on “I Feel U” last Sunday, March 14.
Akira felt the same way. As for someone who never imagined he was going to get his big break as an idol, he still can’t believe he’s now part of the freshest P-pop group. “It feels surreal po para sa akin,” he confessed.
Nate, on the other hand, shared that this was something he had been working on way before the call to join a boy band came. “Before I joined this, I was in Korea looking for a place to train.”
Like most K-pop stars, all five of them went through a rigorous audition process and they were chosen from thousands of hopefuls. To Mikki, that alone is something to be grateful for. “We were also blessed and thankful nakapag-debut po kami since marami pong nangangarap na ‘yung tulad po namin.”
Mikki continued to say how much the group appreciates the support of their fans, especially the ones who have been there for them since they one. “Sa supporters namin, we’re also thankful kasi ever since trainees pa lang kami, sinuportahan na po kami until ngayon nag-debut na kami as BGYO.”
This motivates them and they have now made it their main goal to not let their fans down. Gelo, who stands as the leader, pointed out, “Mas gagalingan pa namin, kasi ‘yung pressure nasa amin din. Nage-expect ‘yung tao ng more, so kailangan namin panindigan ‘yung binigay na namin, so kailangan namin mas higitan pa ‘yun.”
BGYO has been receiving praises and in a perfect world, that’s all they would ever get. But they have faced the reality that not everyone will like what they do and that’s okay.
Namo-motivate pa kaming mas magtrabaho ng malala,” said Gelo.
JL agreed and added that there will always be criticisms, and if what they say would help them, then they would welcome it.
A team of young talented men with one target already sounds ideal. But according to JL, they are more than just that.
They’ve built such a strong brotherhood that they know exactly what to do when one of them is feeling down even when that person doesn’t say so. Pag-uusapan namin as a group or kung kumportable siya, solo-solo,” Gelo revealed.
They lean on each other as well when in need of a pick-me-up. Akira said, “We talk a lot. Kung ano ‘yung plano namin. Pini-picture namin sa isip namin ‘yung ano mga gusto namin mangyari in the future. [Like] concerts [and] world tour.”
But, most of all, they turn to their fans, who never fail to show them love. “We look to our supporters. Even with just one simple comment, we feel some kind of fire,” said Nate.
