The Squad Plus artist Nio Tria has voiced out support for the relationship of his mother Cherry Pie Picache and veteran actor Edu Manzano.
In an interview for ABS-CBN’s “Kapamilya Chat” on December 4, Nio said that he already knew Edu was courting his mother even before the relationship was confirmed to the public.
“Alam ko naman na nililigawan ni Tito Edu ‘yung mom ko,” he shared. “Nung nalaman ko na nabalita na, ‘Ah, ok, good, nabalita na. Sana ok yung reaction ng mga tao.’”
The “Saying Goodbye” actor expressed his approval of Edu and Cherry Pie’s relationship, saying, “Oo, approve ako. Siyempre sinu-support ko ‘yung mom ko kasi malaki na siya. Alam na niya ang mga ginagawa niya. Matanda na siya, alam na niya ‘yun.”
“Mama’s boy ako pero siyempre she deserves her own happiness din, di ba?" I mean, ‘yung pagkakaroon ng relationship with someone else doesn’t remove the fact that she is still my mom. Woman pa rin siya,” he spoke in support of Cherry Pie’s happiness.
“She deserves love. I just want my mom to be happy kaya support ako sa kanya, support ako sa kanila,” he added.
Edu confirmed his relationship with Cherry Pie to broadcast anchor Cheryl Cosim via text message last November 19.
Unlike Nio, Edu’s son Luis Manzano was “caught off guard” by the news but assured that he's happy for his dad nonetheless.
Nio is Cherry Pie’s son with her ex-partner Gary Tria whom she separated from in 2006.
